1.La La Land
Damien Chazelle developed an interest in musicals during his time as a drummer and first conceptualized the film with his Harvard University classmate Justin Hurwitz. After moving to Los Angeles in 2010, Chazelle wrote the script but struggled to find a studio willing to finance the project while keeping its original design intact. Following the success of Whiplash in 2014, the project was picked up by Summit Entertainment. Initially, Miles Teller and Emma Watson were considered for the lead roles, but after both withdrew, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone joined the cast.
Filming took place in Los Angeles between August and September 2015. The film’s music was composed by Hurwitz, with lyrics co-written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, while Mandy Moore handled the dance choreography.

The idea of making a film about Freddie Mercury’s life had been considered for many years. In late 2015, GK Films announced that they had partnered with screenwriter Anthony McCarten to write the screenplay for Bohemian Rhapsody. The film, produced by 20th Century Fox, New Regency, and GK Films, began filming in early 2017.
