3 Idiots is a 2009 Hindi-language coming-of-age comedy-drama film written, edited, and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, co-written by Abhijat Joshi, and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film is loosely based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel Five Point Someone and stars Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi in the lead roles, reuniting them three years after Rang De Basanti (2006). Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, and Omi Vaidya also play significant roles.
The film follows the friendship of three students at an Indian engineering college and serves as a satire on the social pressures within the Indian education system, told through two parallel narratives: one set in the present and the other ten years in the past.
Produced under the banner of Vinod Chopra Films, 3 Idiots features real-life Indian inventions created by Remya Jose, Mohammad Idris, Jahangir Painter, and Sonam Wangchuk. Sonam Wangchuk also served as the inspiration for Khan’s character in the film.
4.The Truman Show

Truman Burbank enjoys a seemingly perfect life on a picturesque island. He works, lives in a lovely home, and adores his wife. Equally important, everything around him, including the people, is a staged production, and Truman is the only one unaware of this elaborate setup. For thirty years, producers have broadcast his life live on television, running 24/7 without interruption or commercials from a massive studio disguised as the real world.
The show’s creators designed Truman’s family, including his mother, father, and wife, to be entirely fake. From his childhood, they worked to convince him that no world existed beyond the one he knows. To limit his curiosity, they discouraged any interest in professions like exploration and staged traumatic events, such as his “father” drowning during a boating trip, to instill a fear of water and keep him confined to the island.
As a teenager, Truman fell in love with a girl named Sylvia. The show’s producers, determined to control the narrative, removed her from the set. Sylvia managed to reveal her true identity and the show’s deceit before her staged exit to Fiji, urging Truman to question the reality of his life.
